-MEET THE ARTIST BEFOREHAND:
Before even the trial, an in-person meeting is non-negotiable. Taking the time at the appointment to discuss all the details, will help the artist understand your aesthetic, know exactly how you envisioned your makeup and any specifics you may have (i.e., skin allergies, contact lens use, etc.). They can also advise you on everything from hair color and eyebrow shape to giving you various skincare hacks. Every little detail enhances the look on the final day.
-TRIAL:
At the trial it’s always helpful to wear something white and bring along photos of make-up looks you like. Do the trial early in the morning, in the light, keep it all day and shoot not only the before and after, but also try to take a photo in many different places with different lightings. A nice tip is to also schedule a pre-wedding photoshoot with your wedding photographer on the same day, a shoot that will familiarize you with the lens, provide you with great photos and be the perfect opportunity to see in practice how the make-up is captured and if it needs any modification or correction. It may seem strange but even I, as a photographer, can help you perfect your make-up by studying the photos together, so that the result will be exactly what you have dreamed of.
